Lift Yourself!

I do alot of "scraplifting." And I mean A LOT! So, I was recently challenged to "Lift Yourself." How fun! I had a hard time deciding which LO I loved so much to do it again. I decided on this one. I did this LO a few years ago, and its one of my very favorites!

Back when I did this page, I only had one child, who was about 3 or 4 in this picture.
When I did this page, she was 6 and I had two more kids! My how times have changed...
Check out some more designers who lifted themselves over at D.I.!

I'm Back!

It's been a while! Its a super buy time of the year for me, but school is finally winding down. that means I can be a full time scrapper for a while! Yay!

Here is one I did last week. It was a scraplift of a friend on ASP. I just love that felt monkey. I made him look more like a her by slapping on a little "bow."

This is a "Time Swap" I hosted. Aren't these fabulous! Don't I have such awesome scrap buddies on line??
This too was a scraplift. I detest this picture of me (post baby) but had to scrap it because, well, I paid for it and I don't want it in a frame! LOL!

Look at THIS mess! these are my pages waiting to be put in my scrapbooks. UGH!!! I hate doing that!!! Why? Because I don't want to spend my scrap money on page protectors and I'm lazy. So, about every 3 months, I sit on the floor and file away for like two hours. It looks like its time again. How many do you think that is???

And lastly, this is a page that was on DI this week. The title refers to the little baby tub that has been used for all three of my babies. Its finally been retired for good. Makes me so sad...

Be back in a few days. I have a contest winner to announce and will be participating in a blog hop again! Happy Memorial Day Y'all!

Rise to the Challenge, Final Week

This week's challenge was to do a LO that had no pictures, had some kind of embossing and had only 20 things. Yikes! OK, so I can handle the embossing, and maybe even the no pictures, but I HATE being limited on my quantity. I am a "throw lots and lots of embellies on a page" kind of girl!

That being said, I like how it turned out. I actually downloaded the Cricut Design Studio so I could weld my words so I didn't have to count each letter. Yea, so gonna have to buy the full version now...

My 20 items are: (all ink and embossing powders were free)
pp-4
embossed chipboard- 8
brads-4
black CS 1
Ellie's list-
1title-2 welded words
I used UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamal) and pigmanet ink on my chipboard. You have to do three layers to get the glassy look. I always love how it looks!

Here is what the jugdes said:

I love how you distressed and inked the chipboard!this is awesome! i think things like this are exactly what should be scrapbooked. great job! What a wonderful item to include in your scrapbook! Documenting not only her wishes, which will be fun to look back on, but also her efforts at handwriting and spelling. The list made me nostalgic and I'm not even her mother! lol! I love the way you cut the pp, and layered the two tone-on tone patterns; and I love the embossed vine and hearts. Nice job.
So, I am happy with the results. I think this week's score was dead on.
I did pretty well on this competition in the end. It was a great challenge. I love having tough scrappy challenges. It really pushes me to think outside my normal box. I am usualy "Uhg! I don't like this challenge" at first, but then I end up loving what I come up with.
So, thanks Misty for a great challenge. And thanks judges for putting up with my whining and for giving me some nice comments as well as some constructive critisim! I really enjoyed it and once again, grew as an artist!

Blog Jump- Mother's Day Version

Blog Jump Time! This week, we are focusing on Mom!

I have to say that becoming a mother has defined me as a human being. I always knew I wanted to be a mom, but I had no idea how much it would change me. I have a purpose now.

I also have to honor my mom who set an amazing example of what a Christian woman should be for me. She is my mentor and my best friend and I can only hope that one day my girls will feel the same as me. Love ya mom! (She's the one making my hit counter go up every day!! Lol!!!)

Anyways, here is my contribution.

Make sure you hop on along to see some more amazing LOs. Your next stop is Jen. She has the cutest kids! Check her out!

The Rejected...

This is the last week of the Rise to the Challenge contest and I didn't like what I made, so I made another LO. I didn't like it much either, so I decided to submit the first one. It has to have no pictures and some kind of memento as the theme. It also has to have embossing and only 20 items total. So, here is the rejected of the two.

Yes, believe it or not, there is only 20 items on this page. I am too lazy to go get my liest, just trust me!

The tooth is cut out of Chipboard and embossed with UTEE and Dazling Diamonds. That cute little tooth holder is from my LSS. I thought it was so cool cause I had no idea what I...uhem, I mean the tooth fairy, should do with all those teeth. I remember my mom kept them in her jewelery box, but I wanted something a little more permanent.
Anyway, check back tomorrow as we are doing another ASP blog jump!!

Rise to the Challenge, Week 4

This week's challenge:

Symmetry & Monochromatic
Make a symmetrical LO that is also monochromatic. (monochromatic means only 1 color, no black, no white etc.... ) (Your photo is the only thing that can have color other then the color of choice in your monochromatic)

Your LO must include the following:
Technique - Stamping (Be creative!!)
Elements - Brads & Ribbon must be used

This challenge was HAAAARRRRRDDDD! But, I am so in love with what I came up with. It is possibly my most favorite LO ever! This is my adorable hubby when he was 9. The title/journaling are a country song.

And, what did the judges say?
Well, lets just say they did not agree with my love of this LO. My score was the lowest yet!! Boo! But, I dont even care this week because I love it so much. Here is what the said:
Erica 39 (out of 50)

Very pretty!Amazing. The wings are the perfect touch here - not contrived at all but really add to the feel of the page. Love the use of the song, and the clusters at the corners of the pics.really really realllllly like this LO, great job!!!! and i love the song too!I love it! Great job! I hated taking points off, but had to because there is white & gold in some of the pp.
So, nice comments, but obviously they didn't say what they really thought because my score was low. Not sure why it was so low.
Next week: scrap somethign other than pictures, emboss and you can only use a total of 20 items. YIKES! 20 items?? So not how I do things!!! LOL!
