HSS- Emboss Resist

Hey y'all! It's Tuesday and that means... 6 more days till MONDAY! UHG! Lol. I seriously hate Mondays!! Except in the summer... I love Monday's in the summer.... ;-)

Anyway, today is a new Hand Stamped Sentiment's Challenge! And, this week we are challenging you with a technique; Emboss Resist!

Emboss Resist is not something I normally do, but I do really love it! I just never think of it! What it means is to emboss a stamped image in clear ink and powder. Then, go over it somehow with ink. I used a brayer and a sponge.
Now, the first thing you might see is the Window Sheet. I saw this card on a new (to me) blog I stumbled on last week. I about fell out of my chair I loved it so much! So, I had to recreate that feel with the next card I made! I embossed the window sheet in the Big Shot and the Houndstooth Embossing Folder.

Now for the challenge technique, you have to look at the guitar. It's one of my favorite stamps and it's retiring! (Grunge Rock) I stamped it with Versa Mark on the First Edition DSP. I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and then hit with the Heat Gun. I then used my brayer and Real Red ink and just kind of went in random directions all over it. I used a sponge and some Soft Suede to make it look distressed. I also used a razor down the sides. I then added the diamond stamps with Staz On Black.

I framed it with Basic Black and Crumb Cake and added a strip of the Music Notes Wheel stamped also on the First Edition DSP. A little twine also. Oh, and I googled knot tying because I felt like it needed something kind of fancy buy masculine! ! Ha! Sentiment stamped on Crumb Cake and distressed as well and then punched using the Decorative Label.

So... what do you think would look really cool done in this technique? Look through your stamps and give it a try! Make sure you come back to Hand Stamped Sentiments and link back up with us!

Can I show off a little bit? My hubby snapped a couple of sweet pictures of my girls and I on Sunday after church! I just love them!

This picture really sums us up. Loud, silly, crazy, happy, mad, friendly, shy, loving, curious and talkative. We are far from perfect, but we love each other that's for sure! Being a Mom is amazing and terrifying and extremely tough, but when I look at their faces I realize what it's all for! Hope you had an awesome Mother's Day too!

  1. Erica, I LOVE your card! Hopefully we're still carrying window sheets in the new catalog! Mine is coming TODAY and I only looked at it online briefly! Just wanted to say that I love the pictures with your sweet daughters. I'm the mom of 3 daughters too, and by mid-July, they'll be 29, 31, and 33! How did THAT happen?? So enjoy these moments when they're little! Fortunately, we're still very close and I have 4 sweet granddaughters! Their ages are 4, 2.75, 14 months and 12 months. All but the 14 month old belong to my oldest DD. I'm blessed to see them all every week.

Love your blog - and the pictures of you and your cuties! How old are they?
