Artisan Wow Wednesday Blog Hop

Welcome to Artisan Wow Wednesday! We've decided to make a few changes to how we showcase our monthly projects. We will do a weekly blog hop every Wednesday that will feature a new project from that month's Artisan Kit! I'm so excited about the changes!
The first Wednesday will feature the previous month's Facebook Project. So, you may have seen this already! but, I can give you all the details here!
You've probably just arrived here from Cindy Beach's Blog! Isn't her stuff AWESOME!

I wanted to make something sweet using my kids silhouette. I love the look of silhouettes and when I taught Kindergarten, I used to trace all 22 kids' heads around Valentine's Day for their moms! It was a huge pain in the neck, but such a sweet keepsake!
So, I came up with making a banner using each of my three girls silhouette. I wanted to use the black/white/red color combo and I really wanted to make the More Amore Designer fabric print the star. But, I needed it in paper! So, MDS to the rescue!
It's VERY easy to make your own DSP in My Digital Studio. All you need to do is create a page (I used a 12" X 12" page) and fill it with the DSP you want. And then send it right to the printers! Easy! So, that's what I did!

I also enlarged the banner punch from Hearts a Flutter on MDS and printed it out to use as a stencil. I cut the three banners from the printed DP.

To create the silhouette, I took a side photo of each of my girls. I enlarged it in Word and printed it in black and white. I taped it to a piece of Basic Black Cardstock and carefully rimed it out! So easy!

Last, I created the smaller banners by cutting strips of Basic Black cardstock and adhering them to the Whisper White and just "eyeballed" it on my Paper Trimmer to create the skinnier banners. The letters were cut using the Big Shot and the Typeset Dies. For all the supply details, please scroll to the bottom.

So there you have it! A very easy project that creates a fun Valentine's Day decoration. But, I think this little treasure will need to stay up all year!

Up next is the amazing Heather Summer's! Make sure to hop on over to her blog to see what wonderful things she is doing!
Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Oh, Erica, what a fantastic idea! I love how the project turned out, and thanks for showing us how to make it! When my niece gets a little older, I'd love to give it a try. :)
