Cheerful Critters Paper Piecing

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Today, I am showing you a special technique for "coloring" blackline images. It is called Paper Piecing. This stamp set, Cheerful Critters, is perfect for this technique.

Paper Piecing is (can be) very simple. It's the process of piecing the stamp together using different colors of paper. You stamp it on several different pieces of paper and cut out just pieces of the image in each color. So, for example, I stamped the chick on the Kraft paper first. Then, I stamped it again on Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight. I then cut out his head from the Daffodil and the shirt from the Strawberry and adhered them onto the first image stamped on the Kraft. I used a marker to color in the tiny beak.

This technique can be used for a variety of stamps in you stash. My only tips is to choose simple, easy to cut images and to use a very good, small pair of scissors like our Paper Snips.
I also used our awesome Fringe Scissors to create the grass and Wild Wasabi twine from the Painted Blooms Twine Pack.

One other tidbit of news for you this week...

Stampin' Up has announced that the Butterfly thinlits and the stamp set that coordinates, will be back in stock this week. They are hoping they will be ready to ship by Wednesday. To make up for any frustration we've had over the lack of this product, they are offering a choice of three FREE Sale A bration products if you buy the bundle! You can choose the Best Year Ever DSP,  Best Year Ever Accessory Pack or the Simply Irresistible DSP. This offer will be good through the end of April.
